Quartets

We are very fortunate in Surrey Harmony to have several new and established quartets! Quartets are a great way for Chorus members to develop their singing skills and practice, and our established quartets can provide entertainment to guests at a dinner party, wedding or charity fundraiser, so why not consider one for your next function?

Oops!

Oops! have been singing together since 2011. We met through Surrey Harmony and decided to sing together to improve our skills and have some fun. We were a quartet with no name for nearly 2 years until we finally decided on Oops! Why? Well that’s another story!

Sarah our lead sings the tune in most of our repertoire. She is our music expert knowing what the black and white dots all mean on the musical score and ensuring we are hitting the right notes and keeping in tune. She also holds the purse strings!

Vanja our bass supports us all with her resonant low sound. She is the authority on all things barbershop keeping us up to date on facts and figures and who’s doing what, when and where! She is also our PR consultant. Oops! ‘Like’ us on Facebook!

Louise sings tenor the high tinkly line. She is warm up champion ensuring our voices are prepared and looked after during rehearsal and performance. She also makes sure we don’t talk too much at practices – a major challenge!

Kate our baby Oopsie sings baritone, the clever part that interweaves the bass and lead and holds the chords together. She is our fitness guru making sure all our muscles our engaged for singing with the right posture and breathing. It’s hard work singing properly! She also ensures our make- up matches our outfits!

Our last major appearance on stage was at the Sage in Gateshead in May 2013 where we competed at the regional convention for the first time together. Since then we have sung at a number of Surrey Harmony sing outs and ‘busked’ around the streets of Sutton as part ofa collaborative barbershop festival showcasing the art form. Our aim is to compete again in 2015 but enjoy this year performing just for fun and friendship!
